Among the several pest control treatments, fumigation has proved its effectiveness in a short period of time and has gained immense popularity in the market.
The new International Standard for fumigation was developed by the IPPC. We use two types of treatment for pallet fumigation:
- Methyl Bromide Treatment – Methyl bromide is currently one of the fumigants approved for treating wooden boxes. Boxes are stacked in a sealed chamber and sprayed with the chemical methyl bromide. The chemical soaks into the wood and then dries.
- Heat Treatment – Wooden boxes are placed in a large heating chamber until it reaches a core temperature of 132 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of 30 continuous minutes. The process varies in length of time based on the thickness and type of wood (soft wood or hard wood) but can last between 5 to 14 hours. Blowers circulate the hot air around the pallets.
Fumigated wooden boxes are those boxes that have been disinfected and gone through pest control process. To ensure that all of our wooden boxes conform to international shipping and transportation standards and regulations we can prepare and treat fumigated wooden boxes for export.
